Is Yacolt on a sewer or septic system?  

The residents in the Town of Yacolt are on septic systems.  A General Sewer Plan was developed in 2008-2010.  This General Sewer Plan was adopted by the Town Council as of March 2011 in case of future need.  Contact Town Hall for a listing of licensed septic companies 

Do I need a building permit to build a shed, garage, fences, replace my roof, etc. on my property? 

Yes a permit is required and can be applied for at Town Hall (202 W. Cushman) or contact the Clerk at 360-686-3922 or by email at clerk@townofyacolt.com for more information

Do we pay the Town for water?

No.  Clark Public Utilities is responsible for billing and collecting payments.

How many chickens can a household have?

Up to eight (8) chickens, upon Council approval, and they must be caged and cared for by the owners.  

Who enforces animal control within the town limits?

Clark County Animal Control and the Town of Yacolt have an inter-local agreement that asks all residents to contact Town Hall to report dogs at-large, cat problems and any other abuse or neglect.  Clark County Animal Control is the law enforcing agency.

Do you need a business license for a home business in the town limits?  If so, is there a fee?         

Yes, a business license is required for home businesses as well as any contractor, business or subcontractor doing business in Yacolt.   Contact Town Hall for all Home Business questions and see the Business & Development tab for additional information. 

Are public bathrooms available in the Town Park?

Yes, doors are systematically locked. Doors may be locked for periods of time due to vandalism or during colder months.

How do I get a topic presented at a Town Council Meeting?

There is a form on the "Forms Directory" page on this website called the  "Agenda Request" form.  The Forms Directory can be found under the drop-down menu under "HOW DO I?"  Simply fill out the form and mail or bring it to the Town Hall at least one week before the meeting in which you want your topic presented.

How do I get access to Public Records?

You may view or get copies of public records by contacting the Town Clerk, who will respond to your request within 5 business days.  The Clerk's email address is clerk@townofyacolt.com.
